Top 5 Madden 20 LB's Based on Superstar and X Factor Abilities





Our friends over at Madden School continue to do a nice job of breaking down all the individual abilities, this time for each all defenders HERE. Staying in sync with our article yesterday, I took a crack at ranking the top five LB's for Madden 20 based on abilities.This ranking does not take age, attributes, or team into consideration they are based solely on their Superstar and X Factor abilities.

#5) Darius Leonard - Indianapolis Colts

The Abilities:

Super Star Ability: Strip Specialist
What it does:  Reduced tackle penalty while trying to strip the ball

Why he made the list: Pickings are slim for stack linebackers when it comes to abilities. Leonard checks in at #5 because of his Strip Specialist. With Strip Specialist he won't be subject to tackle penalty while trying to separate the ball from the ball carrier.

#4) Leighton Vander Esch - Dallas Cowboys


The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Unfakeable
What it does:  Decreased chance to be faked out by ball carrier moves

Why he made the list: Vander Esch makes the list on the back of his Unfakeable ability. With this ability the chance of him being faked out by ball carrier moves will be decreased, which is good news as the Juke move appears to be deadly this year.

#3) CJ Mosley - New York Jets

The Abilities:

Super Star Ability: Tackle Supreme
What it does: Defenders with this ability have better conservative/dive tackling, are rarely faked out by ball carrier moves, and cannot be faked out when user-controlled.

Why he made the list: Mosley lands at #3 due to his Tackle Supreme ability. With Tackle Supreme have better tackling as well as rarely being faked out by ball carrier moves. The additional tackling buff just slightly put Mosley ahead of Vander Esch for the purpose of this list.

#1a) Luke Kuechly - Carolina Panthers

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Shutdown 
What it does:  When they enter the zone, their coverage is tighter and interceptions are more frequent on contested catches.

Super Star Ability: Enforcer
What this ability does:  Defenders with this ability don’t allow broken tackles when hit-sticking ball carriers – regardless of the runner’s size or power

Super Star Ability: Tackle Supreme
What it does: Defenders with this ability have better conservative/dive tackling, are rarely faked out by ball carrier moves, and cannot be faked out when user-controlled..

Why he made the list: This is another case of two players having the exact same load out in terms of abilities. To be fair, these are the two best LB's in the game so it would make sense. Shutdown is a truly impressive X Factor as it is more commonly used for DB's meaning these guys will being covering at an elite level. Between Enforcer and Tackle Supreme these players both will be hard to get away from if think you'll have a better chance attacking them on the ground. 

#1b) Bobby Wagner - Seattle Seahawks

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Shutdown 
What it does:  When they enter the zone, their coverage is tighter and interceptions are more frequent on contested catches.

Why he made the list: See above, as both Wagner and Kuechly have the same load out making them a 1a/1b combo here at the top of the list!

Continuing our deep dive series, this article will take a look at the offensive line units of each team in Madden 20. Above you can see my spreadsheet I created to make my observations. I plugged in the blocking stats of the starter at each offensive line position. Madden 20 Beta Experience: A positive experience from a game not quite done yet.

After spending the weekend scouring the ins and outs of Madden 20 via the closed beta, I found myself asking one question…Is it August 2 nd yet? While the game is still being worked on you couldn’t help but feel as if the game play finally fulfilled many of the promises we had been given over the past couple releases. That is not to say the game doesn’t still have its flaws, some of which should be fixed before launch others that sadly will probably wait until next year, however overall Madden 20 is set to feel like a refreshing experience for a title that has been somewhat stagnant the last couple years.
