Top 5 Madden 20 Pass Rushers Based on Superstar and X Factor Abilities



Our friends over at Madden School continue to do a nice job of breaking down all the individual abilities, this time for each all defenders HERE. Staying in sync with our article yesterday, I took a crack at ranking the top five Pass Rushers for Madden 20 based on abilities.This ranking does not take age, attributes, or team into consideration they are based solely on their Superstar and X Factor abilities.

#5) Demarcus Lawrence - Dallas Cowboys

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Unstoppable Force
What this ability does: Pass rush leads to quicker block shedding

Super Star Ability: Edge Threat
What this ability does: Dominant pass rush moves from the edge

 Super Star Ability: Under Pressure
What this ability does: Bigger area of effect for QB pressure and disruption

Why he made the list: Demarcus Lawrence makes the list as a true pass rushing specialist. Unstoppable Force gives him quicker block shedding while in the zone. Edge Threat provides him a "dominant pass rush move" and add in under pressure to increase his pressure effectiveness and you have one bad man.

#3a) Calais Campbell - Jacksonville Jaguars

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Unstoppable Force
What this ability does: Pass rush leads to quicker block shedding

Super Star Ability: Edge Threat
What this ability does: Dominant pass rush moves from the edge

Super Star Ability: Reach Elite
What this ability does: The ability to tackle/sack while engaged with blockers

Why he made the list: Calais Campbell finds himself sharing the 3rd spot on this list, even at 32 years old. With Unstoppable force Campbell will find himself more quickly shedding blocks when in the zone. When he isn't in the zone. don't worry he can still get home. Edge Threat gives him dominant pass rush moves when coming off the edge. If for some chance he does get blocked that's okay too as Reach Elite allows him to tackle and sack players while engaged with a blocker.

#3b) Kahlil Mack - Chicago Bears

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Unstoppable Force
What this ability does: Pass rush leads to quicker block shedding

Super Star Ability: Edge Threat
What this ability does: Dominant pass rush moves from the edge

Super Star Ability: Reach Elite
What this ability does: The ability to tackle/sack while engaged with blockers

Why he made the list: Khalil Mack shares the same load out as Calais Campbell listed above. Because I said in the opening that we are only using traits to rank guys that means these guys will be sharing the #3 slot here on the list. Similar to Campbell, the combination of Reach Elite letting Mack sack players when blocked and Edge Threat, along with Unstoppable force, keeping them from being blocked lands Mack on the list.

#2) JJ Watt - Houston Texans

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Fearmonger
What this ability does: Chances to pressure QB while engaged with a blocker

Super Star Ability: Strip Specialist
What this ability does: Reduced tackle penalty while trying to strip the ball

Super Star Ability: Edge Threat Elite
What this ability does: Dominant pass rush moves & increased QB pressure

Why he made the list: JJ Watt is no stranger to top 5 lists, so add this one to his collection. Watt comes in with Fearmonger giving him a little extra pressure bonus while engaged with a defend. What really sets Watt apart from the rest of the pack is the Edge Threat Elite ability. With this ability Watt has "Dominant" pass rush moves as well as increased pressure. All of this rolled up along with the Strip Specialist makes Watt one of the best pass rushers in Madden.

#1) Aaron Donald - Los Angeles Rams

The Abilities:

X Factor Ability: Fearmonger
What this ability does: Chances to pressure QB while engaged with a blocker

Super Star Ability: Pass Rush Elite
What this ability does: Quicker pass rush moves & block shedding

Super Star Ability: Under Pressure
What this ability does: Bigger area of effect for QB pressure and disruption

Why he made the list: This should come as no surprise to anyone, but Aaron Donald has been the best pass rusher in real life, as well as Madden, for a couple years now. Mentioned earlier, Fearmonger allows Donald to pressure the QB even while engaged with a blocker. When you take into account he also possesses Under Pressure which makes that pressure area larger, there won't be many places to hide in the pocket against Donald. That's all okay though because with Pass Rush Elite he won't be blocked often as he'll be able to cycle through block shedding and pass rushing moves quicker than anyone else. Yea, he's a beast.

Fastest Teams in Madden 20

Nothing screams Madden quite like speed and we got you covered on that front. We have broken down the speed of each team on both offense and defense, as well as assigned an overall team speed score. The analysis was done using 11 personnel on offense and nickle personnel on defense. On offense QB's and O linemen were not included, and on defense there were no D linemen used.
