Madden 20: Best Franchise Teams 32-25



It's taken a lot of work to get to this point and if you have followed along on twitter, or any other social media, you'd know I have put a lot of work into these metrics. This series is going to evaluate the best teams to use for a franchise based on 8 data points I developed using the Madden 20 launch ratings. Keep in mind that the commentary will be my thoughts, however they are based on the rankings the data spit out. I don't hate your team, trust me I'm a Bengals fan I have no room to talk.

32). Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders

Pros:

  • O-Line has upside, but does have age concerns
  • Weapons are league average, however WR's specifically are upper echelon in the league

Cons:

  • This team is the oldest team in the league in terms of talent
  • Defensively they lack a pass rush in a league where hitting the QB is everything
  • Their coverage is lacking across the board
  • On the slower side of the league across the board

31). Detroit Lions

Pros: 

  • Weapons aren't elite but do rank on the top half of the league
  • Secondary is weak, however do have a standout corner in Slay
Cons:

  • QB ranks towards bottom when adjusted for age
  • One of the slowest teams in Madden

30). Miami Dolphins

Pros:

  • The team boasts the best cap situation in Madden
  • They have a lot of speed on the team.
  • Bonus: Extra picks from in the 2nd and 4th round

Cons:

  • There QB situation isn't set going forward
  • O-Line is the worst as a unit in the entire league
  • Pass Rush is practically non existent
  • Lack any top end play makers on offense

29). Minnesota Vikings

Pros:

  • One of the best set of offensive weapons in the league
  • Team Speed is about league average and could get to average with a youth movement

Cons:

  • O-Line is one of the worst in the league
  • Serious cap issues are on the horizon in the first off season
  • QB contract doesn't equate to his adjusted QB Rank

28). Denver Broncos

Pros:

  • The secondary, while on the slow side, is an elite coverage unit
  • The team is well situated cap wise to improve going forward
  • O- line is middle of the road, but has some upside

Cons:

  • The team as a whole is the slowest team in Madden
  • Flacco offers nothing as the future and Locke grades out around the same.
  • Lacking top tier weapons
  • Team is one of the older teams in the league

27). Buffalo Bills

Pros:

  • Top 10 cap score allows them to retain and improve their team after the season
  • Secondary is upper half of the leagues in quality
  • QB is league average in terms of Adjusted Rank, but has upside due to age

Cons:

  • Contrary to narrative this team is one of the oldest in the leagues in terms of quality players
  • Pass rush is minimal, and what they have is older
  • Roster lacks speed across the board
  • Weapons are below league average

26). New York Giants

Pros:

  • Team has a really good cap situation moving forward
  • Relatively young and fast across the entire team
  • Nice set of younger weapons that have a chance to grow into one of the better groups

Cons:

  • Pass Rush is embarrassing
  • Secondary lacks the ability to cover, especially for the time they'll need to with the pass rush
  • QB offers absolutely nothing moving forward


25). Washington Redskins


Pros:

  • Top 10 Pass Rush offers something to be excited about
  • O-Line is one of the better units if Williams is on roster at launch
  • Haskins checks in at league average as a rookie with lots of upside

Cons:

  • This team lacks offensive weapons on par with the rest of the league
  • Age is an issues especially on the defensive side of the ball
  • The secondary is slow as mentioned above, but can't really cover all that well
