Madden 20 Ratings: Top 5 Rookie Rating Surprises

With the rookie ratings dropping today there have been a couple surprises and we count down the top 5 rookie rating surprises. While overall ratings aren't a great indicator of the player's actual usefulness in game they make for a great topic of debate! For a full list of rookie ratings click here.

#5) Hakeem Butler - WR - Arizona Cardinals

Why he made the list: Butler entered the draft as an intriguing prospect that many believed was raw with high upside. That upside though still landed him in the 4th round with the 1st pick to the Cardinals. Madden however appears to be higher on Butler than the NFL teams were. Butler comes in at a 72 OVR and the 26th highest rated rookie in the game.

#4) Daniel Jones - QB - New York Giants

Why he made the list: Jones was a surprise pick by many draft pundits, but I'm not sure anyone saw the 6th overall pick being rated so poorly in Madden. Jones checks in with a 63 OVR at launch and actually is the 6th highest rated QB behind UDFA Tyree Jackson of Buffalo. I wasn't expecting much for Jones, but this seems slightly low even for the biggest Jones critic.

#3) Garrett Bradbury - C - Minnesota Vikings

Why he made the list: Bradbury makes this list for two reasons. The first is that he is the highest rated O Linemen even thought he was the 3rd off the board with one being a top 10 pick (Jonah Williams - Cincinnati). While you can make an argument Bradbury is a solid prospect, Williams by most people's standards was a cleaner prospect plus a top 10 pick.

The other reason he makes this list is because he is the highest rated O linemen all the way down at 73 OVR. I have some concern based on the upper echelon of D Linemen in the rookie class related to the O linemen. I hope that trend doesn't carry into full roster ratings.

#2) Irv Smith - TE - Minnesota Vikings

Why he made the list: We go back to back with Vikings players as TE Irv Smith gets the #2 spot on this list with his 75 OVR ratings. Don't get me wrong Smith is a solid player, however one has to wonder how the 50th pick in the draft comes in tied for the 9th highest rated player in the class. Smith is a solid do everything TE, however I have a hard time arguing he is a better player than the 72 OVR rated MLB Devin White.

#1) DK Metcalf - WR - Seattle Seahawks

Why he made the list: This was the first thing that jumped off the screen when looking at the rookie ratings. Metcalf came in as the 7th highest rated rookie in the game with a 76 OVR after being drafted 64th overall. While it's easy to say his physical traits inflated his ratings, some of his skill ratings appear to be a little higher than what you'd expect for a guy who had limited reps in college. There is no doubt with these ratings Metcalf will be a heavily sought after player in most franchises.

What do you guys think? Who got love and who got snubbed? Let me know on twitter @T4Verts.

  1. When I 1st started purchasing coins, I encountered an unprofessional web-site. Not only the delivery time was slow, however the service attitude was incredibly poor and the knowledge was extremely poor. Later, my buddy told me that EZMUT was pretty great, so I attempted it. The initial impression at the time was that the website was pretty safe and the transaction info was reasonably private. Soon after I placed the order, I received the coins soon, which surprised me. Later I discovered that they typically deliver them instantly.
